Key Grinding - Painting Concrete Surfaces
Sometimes a commercial or domestic property owner will decide to paint their indoor or outdoor concrete as a quick way to brighten or make their concrete floor look cleaner.
The following photos display why one should key grind a floor before painting it to allow the paint to adhere to the surface better.
Key grinding usually consists of one or two passes with a concrete grinder, enough to open the pores in the concrete surface to make the floor more accepting of the coating.
Key grinding will promote longevity of the finish by avoiding pre-mature delamination which will result in the surface looking like the photos below!
